In conjunction with our Jr. Cavs Basketball program, our Cavalittles program will shape our littlest ballers to learn the basics of the game and have a blast on the court with Cavs coaches and parents. The High School basketball league is offered to those who do not play on their high school team or on a CYO team. New this year, participants will be able to sign up to be considered a captain of a team. Captains will be determined based off of their leadership, past standing as a participant and of the Westlake Recreation Center (if applicable). Once captains are chosen, there will be a scheduled draft night where each captain will draft members of their team. Number of teams and players on a team will be determined once registration has ended. Teams do not practice. The season consists of 8 regular season games and then a single elimination playoff. Games will take place after school (roughly 4pm) on Thursday afternoons beginning Thursday, December 1st. Programs are designed to instruct youngsters in the fundamentals of the game of basketball. Games are for FUN and allow the youngster to experience the thrills of playing basketball, in a game situation, in front of family and friends. Any child who participates on a CYO, Travel or Interscholastic team may not participate in this league. Requests to be on certain teams or to play with a friend, will not be honored. Finish 2024 by working on your game with former Westlake Demons boys basketball coach Jeff Huber and Youngstown State & Magnificat Hall of Famer Brianne Huber. Players will be coached on all the fundamentals of the game including shooting, ball handling, passing, defense and team play. Use this camp as a springboard into the remainder of your season as you take your game to the next level!
